subscribed through HIMSS eBook site cannot be downloaded as a file
onto any devices and you cannot use a third party application to read
these eBooks.
- HIMSS eBooks cannot be downloaded/copied on to a pen/thumb drive.
- HIMSS eBooks cannot be accessed on an Android/Kindle Tablet.

An eBook is an electronic version of a book. HIMSS eBooks allow users to read publications on any screen with a browser that supports Flash. HIMSS eBooks have the look of print books, with all of the layout, figures and images intact. Users can see one page at a time or two-page spreads, and can zoom in for close study. Users can read books online or download them to computers for off-line reading.

What are the technical requirements for HIMSS eBooks?

What can I do with my eBook?
In addition to zoom, reading and downloading, eBooks are fully searchable and users can annotate, bookmark and highlight them. Users can search for terms in a single book, across their purchased titles, or across the full site. Users can also print a limited number of pages.

Yes! HIMSS eBooks are available instantly on purchase; with no wait time for shipping or other delays.

Can I view a sample eBook?
All HIMSS eBooks have sample pages available through ViewInside that users can see before purchasing. Click the View Inside button for a free preview.

Does the eBook’s offline reader work on a PC or a Mac?
iPublishCentral Reader (formerly iOffline) works on both PC and Mac. Disk requirements will vary based on the size of the title.

Can I view the eBook offline?
Once the eBook has been downloaded, it can be viewed off-line at any time.

How soon am I charged for my purchase?
A charge will immediately appear on your bank statement under the name Impelsys for the purchase of your eBook(s) at

What is the return policy on an eBook?
Due to the nature of the item, and unlike printed versions of a book, e-books cannot be returned. Once the ebook is purchased, the sale is considered to be complete and final.

You can tag your eBooks by hovering over the cover image in the Bookshelf view. This allows you to easily find eBooks based on how you describe them in your own words.

You can share the preview ViewInside of titles several different ways. When viewing the ViewInside, you can click on the envelope in the upper right to e-mail it to someone, or you can click on the + sign to post the widget to a social networking site or to get the widget code to paste into your own Web site. You cannot share an entire purchased eBook.

How do I read HIMSS eBooks on my iPad?
- Download the free HIMSS eBooks app from the iTunes App store,
- Login using the registered credentials from the 'My Account' tab [first icon of three at the bottom right corner].
- Tap on 'My Bookshelf' [third icon at the bottom right corner].
- Here, your purchased eBook(s) will be listed.
- Tap on the eBook, it will start downloading to the 'My Bookshelf'.
- After downloading, you can access eBook(s) from 'My Bookshelf'.

How do I download the eBook to my computer?
The
iPublishCentral reader is a software program that, after a one time installation onto your computer, allows you to download, store, and read any book from the
HIMSS eBook Store when offline. The
iPublishCentral Reader is built on Adobe Air, which will also be installed during the initial installation process.
Once you login to the eBook site using your account you will notice a button “Download iPublishCentral Reader”
Click on the download button to go to installation page. Click on install button to set up iPublishCentral reader on your system.
Click the Login button on the upper right corner of the screen.
Select Normal User.
- Enter the URL http://ebooks.himss.org in the Site URL field.
- Use your registered log in credentials to log in to iPublishCentral Reader.
- Enter your user name in the Username field
- Enter your password in the Password field
- Click the Sign In button
- Bookshelf displays the subscribed eBooks with a Download button.
- Click on Download to start downloading the book. Once downloaded the Read button will be shown.
- Click on Read to start reading

How do I log into my account?
Click on the sign-in link on the top right of the home page to get to the log-in screen. Type your user name and password into the correct fields on the log-in screen to log into your account.

How do I change my password?
Click on the "My Folder" link and choose the "Profile Setting" option; from the drop down list choose "Change Password," enter a new password and click "OK." Your password will be reset to the new password.

How do I access my eBook?
Individuals can access their titles using the e-mail address and password they used to purchase. Institutions can access via IP address, referring URL, or e-mail address/password combinations. Once you have logged in, the “My Bookshelf” page will display the eBooks to which you have access. Clicking on the book cover will then open the eBook, making it accessible for you to view.

How can I change my view of the page?
The top panel allows you to change your view of the book by clicking on one of its icons. Scrolling over the icons before clicking will initiate a pop-up burst indicating what that particular icon can change. These include:
- Switch to double pane view
- Switch to single pane view
- Zoom the page
- Fit the page to height
- Fit the page to width
- Toggle full-screen mode.

How do I add my personal notes throughout the eBook?
Right click on content to which you want to add notes and choose "Add Notes" from the option list. You can check these notes in the "My notes" segment in your "My Folder" page.

How do I bookmark a page?
The top panel in the reader has the "Bookmark" option. Clicking on it will bookmark the page currently being viewed. You can check bookmarked pages in the "My Bookmarks" segment of your "My Folder" page.

How do I use the search option?
Type a search term or phrase in the search text box and click on "Go" to search the eBook content. Choose Catalog to search the title, author, description, and other information about the eBooks, or Content to search the full text of the eBooks. You can search within an eBook, across the eBooks you own, or across the entire HIMSS eBooks Website. Your search results will appear in a column on the right-hand side of the page. Specific search terms usually result in more targeted results. Note: The search option is disabled when viewing the book in the full-screen mode.
